Frequently asked purchasing questions

Can I get an exam copy now that the books are all rentals or eBooks?

Yes. Pearson will still provide print books for exam copies upon request.

Do the students have to go to the Pearson website to order them? Is there any other path?

Print books can be rented in their campus bookstore. The rental process can also lead to owning the book if that’s what the students wants. They can also be rented by student through the pearson website at pearson.com/learner.

How much do they cost?

As the Halderman titles have come up for revision, they are becoming part of the print rental program. Anything that came out beginning in 2020 will be part of this program. Books which are part of this program will be priced as follows:

    • Pearson+ eText (1-semester) = $44.99
    • Basic eBook (1-semester) = $44.99
    • Basic eBook (Lifetime) = $74.99
    • Print Book Rental (1-semester) = $74.99
    • Print Book (Ownership) = $155.00

      For titles published prior. to2020, the prices are different depending on each title. However, Basic eBook pricing is the same for all titles.

        • Basic eBook (1-semester) = $44.99
        • Basic eBook (Lifetime) = $74.99

          Revel for AT6 (& AT7 when published) can be purchased in a few ways but in general:

          • Revel (2 year access) = $99.00
          • Revel (2 year access) and print AT6 = $135.00

          iPad:

          CourseSmart App: All of our books are available via CourseSmart for 50% off the list price. CourseSmart has an app for the ipad and iphone for easy compatibility.

          Pearson eText App: Available for the ipad. If a student has purchased MyAutomotiveLab with eText they can download a copy of their textbook via the Pearson eText App (free download in itunes). Looks of functional features, like glossary search, key work search, highlighting, note taking, etc.

          Kindle:
          Many of our books are available on the Kindle. Some older titles on the Kindle (not just in Automotive, but across the board) do not have page numbers—only ‘location numbers’. This is a feature of the Kindle and makes it difficult to assign page numbers to students since they do not align. However, most new titles are Kindle compatible and contain both page numbers and location numbers.
